Misread Signs

Audiovisual performance
Performance and visuals by Yuliya Lanina
Original music by José Martínez
Choreography by Andrea Ariel
Technical support by Theodore Johnson

“Misread Signs” is a 20-minute multimedia performance by Yuliya Lanina featuring animatronic sculptures, projected animation, music, and movement. It explores the effects of trauma on the human psyche.
The piece transcends the particulars of artist’s life experience into a universal story of perseverance and asks us to reflect on our connection to ourselves, to each other and to those who are no longer with us.

In addition to Lanina’s performance, there will be a screening of Fred Hatt‘s “The Watcher” and Yuliya Lanina’s animation “Theme and Variations”.
